ENTRANCE CARDS.
VISITORS AT HOSPITAL. WELLINGTON ALTERATION.
Visiting of patients in Wellington Hospital will shortly be conducted under a different system. The. new scheme for admission, which has been approved by the- Hospital Board, entails tho giving of visiting cards by the patients to their relatives and friends, replacing the system of open admission. At the meeting of the board (states tho "Dominion") Dr. D. M. Wilson, who recommended tho new scheme on behalf of the house committee, said that it would obviate crowding and delay at the main entrance to the hospital. It would also be more convenient from the point of view of the patients themselves. Under the new system each patient will be allowed two visiting cards to be handed at discretion to relatives and friends, to be circulated among them. Visitors will be admitted only by presentation of one of those tickets. In special cases the head porter at the main entrance will be authorised to issue an extra ticket, to be returned at'the end of the visit. The i-. commendations embodied a definite attempt to remedy the present conditions, which had some big faults, said Dr. Wilson. It was found that with the m>"ii admission there wore many complaints from patients that they were having too many visitors, or visitors they did not wish to see. There are certain people who are anxious to see patients without actually knowing them," he said. "They might have some particular propaganda or form of philosophy which they want to impart. There are people of that sort. Under this system the patient, if he is at all visitable, is capable of deciding to whom the tickets are to be given. At? the present time, also, the congestion inside the main entrance on visiting days is not only uncomfortable, but also probably quite unhealthy." The recommendation was approved. From October 15 the visiting days and hours will be as follow:—Sundays, 2 to 4 p.m.; Wednesdays and Fridays, 3 to 4 p.m.; Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, 7 to 7.30 p.m.
