PAKURANGA HUNT CLUB.
The closing day of th-e season of the Pftkuranga Hunt Club was held-at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Wills McLaughlin, Puhinui. From the Fuhinui mountain at the back of the old homestead, the Union Jack was flying gaily in the breeze, and a huge number of visitors watched the last meet of the season in a 'panorama of beautiful surroundings. The picturesque garden at Puhinui, with its long avenue of pines, the New Zealand trees and many rare plants, added a charm to the bright scarlet coats of the huntsmen seen in the distance. Tea was served on the wide verandah and in the dining room. Iceland poppies, with shades of scarlet, struck a brilliant note of colour. Mr. Bui lock -Webster, master of the. hunt, expressed thanks to the farmers for the privilege of allowing tho club to hunt over their land. He said the closing season was the best he had ever known in his r>o years of hunting. Many new and young members had joined, and ho asked all members to do their best next season to see that the privileges granted by the farmers were not abused. Mr. Bullock-Webster drew attention to the fact that Fuhinui was tho site of the original kennels , r >Q years ago, and thanked Mr. and Mrs. Wills McLaughlin for their wonderful hospitality.
