BUBBLE BURSTS.
Fang's Irregular Forces
Retiring.
REPULSED AFTER BATTLE,
PEKING, September 28.
The bubble-like campaign of the rebel leader, Fang Chen-wu, apparently has burst. After fierce fighting in the streets of a walled town only 18 miles north of Peking, his forces are retreating westward along the armistice line of the demilitarised zone.
The fighting lasted 24 hours. The intruders left abort 100 dead and several hundred wounded. Japanese airmen assisted in the hostilities by dropping bombs.
Fang appears to be able to make his escape and now is taking full opportunity of his respite.
