A KOMATA STRIKE. NEW REEF FOUND. (From Our Own Correspondent.) PABKOA, Friday. A l-pof which may br. of great value lias been discovered nt Komala. Assays indicate that there is a big quantity of gold, but details are not being divulged nt present. The quartz is of the kind which is very easy to treat, and there are no foreign minerals. Gold is visible in the stone. The find lias been made by a party of men who have been prospecting for two years or so on behalf of an Auckland syndicate which was formed a few months ago into tho Golden Crown Gold Mining Co. (No Liability). This company holds (18 acres of Tcaomarama, tho Komata Keefs ti.Q.C, of 79 acres, and the Komata Creek, S.R.C., of one acre. Old workings of the Komata Reefs Co. have been extended and in the Tcaomarama section, at a part which, according to the old plans, has never been prospected before, a reef has been cut which gives encouraging prospects. On Tuesday a drive had pierced it for lift and the wall had not been encountered. Just how far above and below the drive the reef extends is not known, but the width already shown is out of the ordinary. Cubes of quartz of great size are now being brought out to the mouth of the drive, which is a couple of miles above the old battery. The drive extends for 800 feet or so, but it was on a new crosscut that the reef was encountered. A trial crushing is to bo made at the Thames School of Mines. CENTRAL SHOTOVER.
