SUMMER MODES. HELD TOGETHER BY A SLENDER THREAD. (By A PAItIS EXPERT.) The summer fashions are extremely elegant and variegated. They are held together only by a slender thread of common allure. Tho French dressmakers say that no woman under 80 can afford to give up the coquetry of appearance. And no woman can achieve it outside her own personal limitations of character and looks. In the summer styles, however, there is something for all of us. The length of skirt is being rigorously controlled. Some practical sports clothes have already short skirts, and even these are always several inches below tiie knees. Everybody with eyesight learned during the lato lamentable frcedom-of-the-knees epoch in styles that few adult knees aro a treat to the eyes.
