CITY SHOWS. The seven new shows opening this evening in city theatres are as follow: —"Her First Mate," ail uproarious Slim Summer-ville-Zaeu Pitts comedy, at the St. James'; "A Bed-time Story," with Maurice Chevalier, Helen Twclvetrees and Baby Le Roy, at the Regent; "It's Great to be Alive," a musical romance dealing with the adventures of the last man on earth; "The Crime of the Century," a thrilling and novel mystery drama, at the Majestic; "Their Night Out," an English farce starring Claude Hulbert, at the Plaza; and "Gun Smoke" (Richard Arlcn) and "That Night in London" dually at the National. The Roxy and Tivoli introduced _ their similar current programme, consisting of "Rustlers' Round-up" (Tom Mix) and "Lucky Dog" ("Chic" Sale), together with a Mickey Mouse pantomime at the matinee session, last Monday. The Strand is showing "Adorable," the popular Gayuor-Garat musical romance. PRINCE EDWARD THEATRE. Besides the splendid little English musical extravaganza, "The Indiscretions of Eve," starring Steffi Dima, a Continental star, with Lester Matthews and Richard Conyngham, the Prince Edward Theatre, Newton, will this evening offer its patrons a novel entertainment in the form of a vaudeville turn by "Penman and Wilson." This will be entitled "The Two Jacks," and comprises comedy work and dancing. They will be seen at the Prince Edward to-night, to-morrow and Monday evenings only, CONCERT AT MILITARY ANNEXE. An enjoyable concert, under the direction of Mr. Arthur Austen, was given at the military annexe last evening. Contributing artists were Miss Peterson, Mr. Frank Stacey's Dance Band, Messrs. Arthur Austen, Will Harris, and Era. Pooley. The accompanist was Mr. Bert Hicks. At the conclusion of the entertainment a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the concert party. COMMUNITY SINGING. A community "sing" will be held this evening in the Lewis Ead.V Hall, when a collection will be taken up in aid of the Metropolitan Unemployed Relief Fund.
