INTERPROVINCIAL CONTEST. HAWKE'S BAY'S FAST YOUNG SIDE. TWO CHANGES IN AUCKLAND TEAM The Hawke's Bay team, in charge of Mr. H. C. Nieholls,, secretary of the Hawke's Bay Rugby League, arrived by special service cars in the city at 8.30 last evening, after a pleasant, though long journey. The team, which is to meet Auckland at Carlaw Park to-morrow, is sturdy and fast, the average age of members being 23 years, and average weight over 11 stone. This is the first side from Hawke's Bay for eleven years, the game having been resuscitated in the province this season. The visitors, who have been coached bv M. Wetherill, will be led by J. Seal, fiveeighths (ex-Kaiti Rugby Union Club, of Gisborne) and a Hawke's Bay representative player for several years. Second in command is H. W. Cushing, a tall young sesond-row forward, considered to be one of the most versatile players in the Bay. A good centre three-quarter is Godfrey, who repped for the Dannevirke and Southern Hawke's Bay Union for the past two years, and lias adapted himself well to Rugby League. The ''speed meich-ant" is R. E. Smith, a winger noted both for his resourcefulness and for ability as a goal-kk-ker. Farquhar. the full-back, will be makins his first representative appearance. The team has an outstanding hooker in H. Brady, and a fast front-row forward is R. H. Gordine. A number of Hawke's Bay officials, including the president. Mr. C. W. Merrick, and the sole selector, Mr. George Frntcr. and several referees, are expected to arrive this evening. The only changes in the Auckland thirteen are that Hassan replaces Axeman and Brisbane (captain) goes in as fiveeighths, Cooke going back to centre, and Wayne taking the position of L. Schultz on the wing. The side is a sound one, but may be meetins .in opposition stronger than the West Coast thirteen of last week. The teams will be: — Hawke's Bay. (Black and White.) Fullback.—R.
