HORSES AT WOODVILLE,

H. E. Russell's boxes at Woodville are fnll at present, despite the fact that Beacon JTire and Jayson have been turned out. Beacon Fire ricked a joint just after he was brought in the last time. There is nothing much the - matter with him and he got through the season all right, his trainer deciding to blister him and turn him out for a few months. Another of Russell's string is Red Rufus. He is a five-year-old now and it is three years since he raced. He made a name for himself at Woodville ■when he treated himself to a four-round preliminary to a sprint event. Two promising two-year-olds in the same stable are Golden Chance (Lackha'm—Megalo), the full-brother to Golden Wings, and Brown Betty '(Lackham —Signal March), the brother to Sporting Chance. They are nicely grown youngsters and should be able to gallop.
