TOLL OF THE STORM.
LOSSES IN JAMAICA. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, August 30. The Governor of Jamaica, Sir Alexander Slater, reporting to the Colonial Office, states that the loss to the banana crops, caused by the storm on August 16, is estimated at 750,000 stems, which would have matured within six months. The loss is restricted almost entirely to big planters. The effect on shipments, however, is unlikely to be serious.
