CANONS OF HUMANITY. Viceroy and Frontier Bombing Of Tribesmen. HOPES FOR EARLY PEACE. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 10 a.m.) DELHI, August 30. A crowded Assembly heard the denial by the Viceroy, the Earl of Willingdon, that the frontier bombing in any way infringed the canons of humanity. Air action of this sort had often occurred in the past 12 years without comment; On the present occasion nobody was killed, and one man was injured. The effect of the air bombing lay in tlie economic loss it inflicted by the destruction of dwellings and the disturbance to everyday life. According to a Calcutta message a peaceful conclusion of the frontier operations is expected to result from the visit of Sir George Cunningham, Governor of the North-West Frontier Province to Peshawar next week when he will meet tribal chiefs and representatives in Jirga.
