DRAINAGE AREAS.
PROPOSED LEGISLATION,
A draft _ of a bill prepared by the board's solicitor and to be presented to Parliament was before the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board last evening. The bill is a local one and aims to have amendments made to the existing Auckland and Suburban Drainage Act, 1908. At present power is conferred upon the Governor-General to declare that any area not included within the drainage district shall form part thereof, and under the bill containing the proposed amendments this power is to be extended to enable the Governor-General, upto the requisition of the Drainage Board, by proclamation to declare that any area described in such proclamation and included within the drainage district shall be excluded therefrom.
The draft of the bill gave rise to no discussion and was referred to the legal and finance committee with power to act.
