NEW POWER STATION.
< GREAT LONDON SCHEME. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, August 29. The first part of the great new power station of Battersea, London, designed to save power of between 400,000 to 500,000 kilowatts, is expected to be finished in time to begin operations before the end of the year. It is built on a 15-aere site on the south bank of the Thames, and is the only station of its kind in which a nitrate of sulphur eliminating apparatus has been installed. This was evolved after large-scale experiments by chemists and engineers, and was expected to prevent the pollution of London air. The apparatus has satisfied Government chemists of its efficiency.
