DEATH OF MR. A. A. THOMSON. (From Our Own Correspondent.). SUVA, August 20. Mr. A. A. Thomson, inspector of Fijian schools, died of heart disease on board the cable ship Pioneer, while en route to the islands of the Lau group. His body was buried on the island of Ogea, in Southern Lau, among the native Fijians, -whom he loved bo well and who greatly loved him. Mr. Thomson was born in New Zealand on January 23, .1804, and came to Fiji early in August, 1923. He wa6 head master successively of the Fijian provincial schools at Kandavu and at Sawani, some 12 miles from Suva, where many visitors from New Zealand were entertained by him and his students. Ever since his arrival in the colony Mr. Thomson has been keenly interested in the Fijian, his manners and customs, and had studied his history and language. Since August, 1930, he had been acting as inspector of Fijian schools. He was a general favourite among all classes.
