Gang Sworn to Kill Refugee

MACHADO REIGN OF TERROR. (United P.A.-Electric Telegraph-Copyright; (Received 11 a.m.) HAVANA, August 20. Eighty-six political refugees returned to the city headed by Miguel Gomez, a former Mayor. For hours they were escorted around the city amid shrieking mobs, while factories and ships blew their sirens. The new Government has laid charges against General Machado, the refugee President, covering the specific disappearance of more than 7,000,000 dollars. Rieardo Herrera, Ruiz Porrista ami the chauffeur for Alberto Herrera, a former Secretary for War and the Navy, wero killed in front of the police headquarters, where they had been prisoners. Men and women on balconies watched the spectacle. '
A band of four men are taking the trail' after General Machado. Ono member of the group lost three sons during the violence of the Machado regime. The hand is sworn to kill General Machado or be killed in the attempt.
Search of dungeons and the grounds of the Atares fortress for political patriots, who disappeared in the last two or three years continues. The A.B.C. leaders declare that 340 members of the Opposition have been missing during the last three years after having been taken to gaols. The body of Feli.N Ernsto Alpizar, ono of four exhumed from the fortress stables, now lies in state at the University of Havana.
