Mr. James Prickott was the successful candidate at the by-election held in Birkenheal yesterday to fill the vacancy on the council caused by the death of Mr. H. A. Campbell. Mr. Prickett served on the council for two years prior to the general election in May last. * There were four candidates, and the poll figures are:—James Prickett, 459; B. J. Sinel, 284; A. C. Stack, 68; Charles Hams, 57. . Of over 2400 electore on the roll, only 572 exercised their vote. ■'■
