ALLEGED SEDITION.
CHARGES IN WELLINGTON.: BOOKS SEIZED BY POLICE. . (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Monday. - ! After hearing long addresses by each of the accused, Mr. B. Page, S.M., reserved his decision to-day in-the' cases in which John Harvey "Blair, Alber. James Birehfield, Richard Henry Webb, Herbert Richard Bryan, William O'Reilly and Leslie Raymond McDowell were charged with printing and publishing a small book entitled "Karl Marx and the. Struggle of the Masses," which, it is alleged, expresses a seditious intention. The prosecution followed the seizing of books by the police. The magistrate also reserved his decision'; iii a ease against Bryan, who was further charged with having the book in his possession for sale or distribution. A similar case against Charles Morris Brooks was proceeded with and was dismissed.
