RELIEF WORKERS' UNION
TWO DETECTIVES WITHDRAW.

WELLINGTON, this day. { The opening of a meeting of the WelI lingtoii Relief Workers' Union yesterday, which was called to discuss a controversy between that organisation and the National "Union of Unemployed, was | preceded by a request by the chairman I to two members of the Police Force, who
were seated in the hall, to retire. He explained that it was not a public, but a business meeting, to reorganise relief workers. The detectives, however, remained seated, and tho chairman announced that the meeting was adjourned. There was silence for a minute or two, when one of the detective* said: "Very well, Mr. Chairman. We will leave you to it." The two officers departed, and the meeting waa declared open. A resolution was carried protesting "against the arrest of our comrades" and expressing determination to carry on the struggle for their release.
