PRIZE-GIVING EVENING.
The Rocky Nook Bowling Club combined with the Rocky Nook Ladies' ; Croquet Club held their annual' prize-giving in the club pavilion on Thursday evening last. The presidents of the two bodies, Mrs. W. H. Keatley and Mr. W. Oughton, presided. The club pavilion Avas tastefully decorated with the club's colours, and among the visitors were Mesdames Hamilton (president), Keesing (secretary), and Spence (assistant-secretary) of the Auckland Croquet 'Association, and Messrs. Sheath (president), Gladding (secretary), and members of the executive of the Auckland Bowling Centre. A fine programme of musical and other items was provided by Misses Stevens (2), Park (2), Woods, Mrs. C. Stormont, Mrs. R. E. N. Matthews, Messrs. Skeels, and Black. Mr. Garland acted as accompanist. The prizes won by members of the croquet club were presented by Mrs. Hamilton, who congratulated the club on retaining its position in the A grade,, and urged an increase in the number of entrants for the tournament next year. She enjoined members to vigorously support the club, and to prove by such support their interest in the centre. The prizes presented were as follows: A. championship, Mrs. Wakcham; B championship, Mrs. Haite; A doubles, Mrs. Keatley and Mrs. Haite; B doubles, Mrs. Garland and Miss Falkner; handicap singles, Mrs. Kayes; club handicap, Mrs. Keatley and Mrs. Page; Loreham Cup, Mrs. Matthews; progressive aggregates, A Mrs. Haite, and B Miss Falkner. In presenting the prizes to the Bowling Club for events held during the year, Mr. Sheath, president of the Auckland Centre, referred to the fact that as bowlers all clubs were united in one happy family, and the champion of "today was not the champion of to-morrow. Ho-favourably commented on the.fact that Rocky Nook had many valuable and- trusted members, and that the club should always be looked to by the Centre to give its support in every way to such measures as the Centre desired. He congratulated the club on the election of one of its members, Mr. V. H. Tongue, to an executive position on the Centre. The prizes presented were as follow:— A championship, Mr. W. H. Keatley; B championship, Mr. W. Rutledge; pairs championship, Messrs. Bowcn and Keatley; percentage fours, Messrs. Winters,
McMillan, Sidler and Keatley; Tongue Cup, Mr. J. IC. Lewis; first.year championship, Mr. J. M. Stormont.
