POLL THIS MONTH. MAYOR TO ADDRESS MEETING. ALSO COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN. Referring to the city loan poll to be taken on August 30, for the , raising of £110,000 for city works, the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, stated this morning that ho would address a public meeting shortly, urging the ratepayers to vote for the loan. Chairmen of various committees would attend meetings also and explain the proposals. Originally the council proposed a loan of £133,700 under legislation which expired at the end of July, which allowed local bodies to raise money for the relief of unemployment without recourse to a poll. The Local Government Loans Board did not sanction the. loan, holding that the ratepayers should be consulted.
