MEAD'S 2000 RUNS.

Woolley Plays Two Fine Innings for Kent.

The West Indian cricketers, who have played 24 matches on tour (winning six, losing four, and drawing 14) commence their final Test against England, at the Oval, tomorrow. The English eleven is:—Wyatt {captain), Walters, Hammond, Ames,' James j Lang-ridge, Verity, Clark, Marriott, Turnbull, Bakewell and Nichols. Scoring his second successive century in county games, Philip Mead completed 2000 runs for the tenth season in his career. rtesuits of matches, commenced on Wednesday, are: — Kent: First; innings, 209 (Woolley 72; Copson five for 02); second, 229 (Woolley 101). Derby: First innings, 84 (Freeman six for 30); second, 194 (Freeman, six for 82). Kent won by 100 runs. Worcester: First innings, 193 (Goddard six for 67) ; second, 205 (Goddard six for 73). Gloucester: First innings, 253 (Dacre 50); second, one for 140 (Hammond 80 not out). Gloucester won by nine wickets.

Sussex: First innings, 441 (J. Parks 103). Surrey: First innings, 214; follow-on, one for 36. Sussex won on the first innings.

Yorkshire: First innings, 550 (Sutcliffe 174; Mitchell 05). Leicester: First innings, 154; follow-on, 145 (Leyland six for 46). Yorkshire won by an innings and 251 runs.

Lancashire: First innings, five for 414, declared (Paynter 82, Lister 100 not out). Middlesex: First innings, 191 (Hopwood five ~ for 47); follow-on, 200 (Hulme 74; Hopwood six for 00). Lancashire won by an innings and 23 runs.

Hampshire: First innings, 466 (Mead 152, Pothecary 118). Notts: First innings, seven for 396 (Keeton 110, Carr 84, Voce 66 not out, Lillcy 62 not out). Match drawn.

Glamorgan: First innings, 234 (D. Davies 93); second, none for 134 (Dyson 65 not out, E. Davies 74). Somerset: First innings, eight for 429, declared (Young 135). Somerset won on the first innings.
