A meeting- of representatives of sporting bodies, convened by the Dunedin Bowling Centre to consider making a protest against the levying of income tax on such bodies, was held here, when it was pointed out that subscriptions of members were not liable to income tax, and the only assessable income was that derived from outside sources. The opinion, was expi-essed that the total tax for the Dominion .ronld amount to only a few hundred pounds, but it was felt that a protest should be made as a matter of principle. The meeting decided to support the Auckland and Wellington sports, bodice, and to send a letter of protest to the Acting-Prime Minister.
