TAUPIRI DRAINAGE.
OBJECTION MADE TO BY-LAWS
(By Telegrapli.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. A deputation of 2-1 ratepayers waited on the Taupiri Drainage Board and objected to several clauses in the proposed by-laws. The deputation objected to a. clause that settlers would have to obtain the consent of the board to do drainage on their own land, also to penalties provided for damage by fire. The chairman, Mr. L. R. AV. Reid. said many drainage boards had similar bylaws', which were necessary to prevent damage. The board decided to defer confirmation of the by-laws for a month in order that they could be explained to the ratepayers. >
