JUBILEE CUP GAMES.
SATURDAY'S COMPETITIONS. j EDEN'S SPLENDID SHOWING. 'y~ ' i Under perfect weather conditions the' Auckland Rugby. Union's Jubilee Cup competitions were started on Saturday. Five matches were played and Ponsonliy and University were awarded byes. x The only real surprise was the defeat of Technical Old Boys by North Shore. , llarist and Grafton were given pride of place on No. 1 Eden Park, and after a game that was keen throughout, Grafton won by a point. As a curtain-raiser to the big game, Eden; leaders in the senior 15 competition, played College Rifles and put up a splendid showing, to go down by only two points. Training College went out to Panmure, where they scored a runaway win over Eastern Suburbs, and Grammar at Sturgess Park ran out winners over Otahuliu. Parnell could not field a team against Jlanukau, the latter winning by default. Ponsonby and Mamikau played a friendly came at the Showgrounds, the former winning by a point, and University travelled to Matamata, where they scored a win in a friendly match over the country team. Jubilee Cup matches resulted:— Grafton 8. beat Marist 7. College Rifles 14, beat Eden 12. Grammar 21, beat Otaliuhu 9. North Shore 11, beat Technical 6 Training College 35, beat Eastern Suburbs «. ■ .
