OBITUARY.

MR. JAMES JAMIESON,

FORMER CITY COUNCILLOR.

The death has occurred of Mr. James Jamieson, an old resident of Auckland and a former member of the Auckland City Council. Mr. Jamieson was 82 years of age. He was born in Parnell. His parents arrived in Auckland in 1842 in the ship Jane Gifford. After being educated in Auckland, he went to the Thames goldfields, and returned to go into business jn Auckland. lie was closely identified with friendly society work in Auckland, and joined the Foresters' Order in 1871. On live occasions he held the office of Chief Ranger. H° was a ' so a member of the Masonic Order. Mr. Jamieson was a member of the Auckland City Council under the ward system, and represented Karangahape Ward.
