LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.

The annual exhibition day of the Bel-mont-Bays water branch of the League of Mothers took place on Saturday, at the Belmont Presbyterian Church Hall, which was opened by Mrs. J. W. Williamson. Mrs. S. O. English, provincial president, Mrs. Wliyte, provincial secretary, Mrs. McCallum, president of the Manurewa branch, together with Mrs. J. W. Williamson, judged the various exhibits. Mr. A. E. Reynolds, headmaster of Belmont School, and Mrs. Reynolds judged the children's eectlon. A large birthday cake made by Mrs. Ogilvie decorated with seven candles was cut by Mrs. Williamson. Prizes were won by Mesdames Beynolds, Snowling, Waters, Roscoe, Pooley, Cahill, Budgeon, West, Ogilvie, Krissansen, Wallwork, Phillips, McCarthy, Misses Cutler, Schulz, Bourdot, Doreen Hughes, Mary Fogartv, Hazel Crichton, Peggy Croslier, Joyce Studd, Myrtle Smith, fl. Seaton, Peter Scott, E. Witliy, J. Heighway, B. Lorimer, A. McNeil, N. Peters, D. Wallwork, P. Taverner. There was also a baby show, judged by Dr. A. Warnock, the prizes being awarded as follow—■ Under 12 months: Brian Holmes 1, Valerie Thomas 2. Under two years: Jack Price 1, Bruce Ogilvie 2. A children's fancy dress party was given in the evening, every child receiving a small present. The programme, which was arranged by Miss J. Verran, included recitations by. Bobby Broughton and J. Armstrong, song by Tim McGregor, sketches by Pat Reeve, Kathleen Anderson, June Ogilvie, Jim Wallwork, Lola Wallace and Teddy Carr, and Mrs. E. Reeder gave a child impersonation. The president, Mrs. J. Schulz, was presented with a clock on behalf of the members of the league in appreciation of her splendid work. During the evening there was a nail-driving competition for ladies, and hat-trimming for the men. Supper, served by the committee and helpers, brought a very successful day ,to a close.
