MOTOR SERVICE.
WANGANUI-NEW PLYMOUTH
TRIPS ELIMINATED.
The Transport Appeal Board, ill its decision in respect of the appeal by the Railways Board- against the terms of the license granted Hodson's Pioneer Motor Service for a passenger service between Wanganui and New Plymouth has reduced the number of daily trips each way from four to two. The motor company's time-table in the past provided for cars to leava Wanganui at 7.30 a.m., 10 a.m., 2.30 p.m. and 0.30 p.m., and to leave New Plymouth at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m., 1.30 p.m. and 3.45 p.m. The board upheld the contention of the Railways Board tha* as there are trains departing from Wanganui within 00 minutes of the 7.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. motors, and departing from New Plymouth at intervals of 25 minutes and 15 minutes respectively of the 8 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. motors, the motor services are more or less duplicating the train service. These trips were accordingly deleted from the license granted the company.
