A.R.L. MEETING. CLUB AFFAIRS AND FIXTURES. ROOPE ROOSTER INNOVATIONS. . A well-attended meeting of delegates of. clubs preceded the meeting of the Auckland > Rugby League Board last evening, when Mr. G. Grey Campebll presided. ' The chairman paid a high compliment to the teams, which provided the two matches : in the championship final. It had been decided that in the Roope Rooster competition teams would participate in gate revenue percentages until eliminated. Hitherto clubs did not partake until the final. Club representatives approved admission of outside district clubs, such as from South Auckland and Northland, in the competition, Mr. Campbell mentioned that Taupiri had nominated, and in the event of a Northland club being unavailable Huntly had made application, and might take part, or a leading reserve or second grade team would be admitted. None but city senior teams, however, would be qualified to be in the later champion of champions fixture. The first round of the Roope Rooster draw resulted in the following fixtures for July 22 at Carlaw Park: —No. 1 ground, 1.45 p.m., Taupiri v. Richmond; 3 p.m., City Rovers v. Newton; No. 2 ground, Mirist v. Huntly, 3 p.m.; 1.45., Devonport and- Newton reserves. The Devonport and Ponsonby seniors' will play at Otahuhu, where Otahuhu Rovers and Ellerslie second grade teams will meet in the curtain-raiser. The matches, Marist v. City reserves, and Ponsonby v. Richmond reserves, will be played at the Domain. Mr. Campbell mentioned that some scheme for making second grade clubs link •up to specified senior clubs "would have to be considered in future. This would entail the payment of a transfer fee for junior players taken, to compensate the lower club for expenses. A representative of the junior club could be coopted as a member of the senior club committee. The board heard a deputation from the Otahuhu Rovers' Club, and decided to stage a senior match at Sturgees Park, Otahuhu, on the 22nd instant. A senior match also is to be played at Ellerslie the following week. On the recommendation of the Taranaki League it was decided to play the Auckland match at New Plymouth on. August 5, instead of on August 12 as previouslysuggested. The chairman eaid this necessitated all the more the playing of an A and B trial match as curtain-raiser next Saturday, to assist the selectors. Mr. Wilkie, chairman of the junior board, was assured that as far as possible junior teams would be presented in cur-tain-raisers to big matches in future. The Hawke's Bay Jjea'gue. accepted September 2 as the date of its match at Auckland, and also suggested August 18 as the date for arrival in Napier of Mr, M. Wetherill, who will take charge as coach of* the Hawke's Bay players. Several letters from patrons making suggestions for comnetition improvement were dealt with, one icing referred to the New Zealand Council. It was decided that an early match at Carlaw Park on August 19 will be Northland primary school representatives against Auckland. Transfer granted: I. M. Duncan, Marist B crrade, to City Rovers. New registrations: C. Steers, Richmond Road, and T. McWilliams, to Devonport United.
