TOURING TEACHERS.

PARTY FROM HONOLULU.

A LEI FOR ACTING-PREMIER

With a bundle of brisrhtlr coloured hats, tokens of good will from Honolulu, included in their baggage, a party ol school teachers arrived at Auckland by tho liner Monowai to-day. One of the leis is a special ono of" silk, which will bo presented to the acting-Prime Minister, tho Et. Hon. J. G. Coatcs.

The party, which will tour New Zealand, is led" by Mrs. Frank A. Cunning, who is accompanied by her husband. The other members of the party are Mesdames V. Whitenack and L. Wilkina, and Misses E. Betters, F. K. Devcrill, C. Gurney, H. German and K. Cook.

"We aro representative of a number of large schools in Honolulu," said Mrs. Cunning, who added that it was thought that the tour would he of considerable educational value. One of the tourists was a dental hygiene expert.

The full party will spend 16 daye in the Dominion, and will then break up, some of the teachers to go to Australia and others to extend their tour in New Zealand. It is probable that another party of teachers will come to the Dominion next year. "All our teachers who have come here in the past speak highly of the country and are good "boosters' for New Zealand/ , eaid Mrs. Cunning.

Owing to the late arrival of the Monowai the tourist* were unable to visit a number of Auckland schools to-day as intended. The party will visit Rotorua and Wairakei, and will then go to Tonjrariro National Park on their way to Wellington. They will then go to the Buller Gorge and Christchurch, later returning to Auckland, via Wellington, New Plymouth and Waitomo Caves. At Rotorua the party will meet the director of the Maori Arts and Crafts School, who will lecture to them on the Maori race. Among educational officials whom they will meet at Wellington will be Dr. J. W. Mcllraith, who will deliver a short address on the educational system of New Zealand.
