TAKAPUNA AMATEURS
The Takapnna Amatenr Cycling Club held a 26-mile combined road race on Saturday It resulted in a win for M. Laurie off 10.0 rtime 75 0)! O. McKee, off 5.30, was second (time 73.55). A. Wdford off third (time 70.43). F. Lawrence off .1.30 was fourth (time 70.43 2-5). Fastest time once again went to B. Sharp, off scratch, his time being 70.15. HAMILTON CLUB. The Hamilton Amateur Cycle Club's 36mile event resulted": F. Stephens, 6.30, 1; B. Murray, 6.30, 2; C. Bull, 2.30, 3. • Fastest time: W. Lentfer (30s), 38.56. THAMES CLUB. : The Thames Cycling Club held a 24-mile road race on Saturday, in which 15 competed, including K. Mathieson (Auckland), and W. Archer and D. Aberhart (Whakatane), H. Lewis and A. .T. Phillips (Waharoa). The race resulted: W. Burr (6.0) 1, H. Cotterall (7.0) 2, S. .Tones (6.0) 3. The fastest time was registered by K. Edkins (Thames). LADIES' CLUB. The feature of the ladies' race on Saturday was the fine performance made by two newcomers. Miss Emily Pile and Miss Flossy Wooil are two recruits to the racing members of the club. Starting from 3.30 and limit respectively, they rode determinedly. Passed in the second lap by Miss Violet Baird, who gave them over a lap start, they were soon together. During the fifth lap Miss Pile drew ahead to win by 7 seconds from Miss Wood. Miss Baird was 15 seconds further behind in third place. Miss Baird equalled her lap record in the fourth lap, when she caught Miss Swinburne, and was only 8 seconds'slower than her six-lap record of 18.17. She made fastest time of 24.44.
