Free State Exporters Reap
Advantage. MR. THOMAS QUESTIONED. (Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 4. The Dominions' Secretary, Mr. J. H. Thomas, questioned in the House of Commons in reference to the Irish Free State subsidy to butter exporters, insisted that the British imports duties were levied with the sole purpose of obtaining funds for the British taxpayer to which he was entitled.
Major R. Ross (Con., Derry): But as a result, the Free State butter exporter is receiving 30/ per cwt more than he did. before the British duties were imposed. Free State butter is now fetching 132/ in-Dublin and 78/ in Belfast.
