WOMEN'S DIVISION.

The Waitenrata Provincial Council of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union reports that the election of officers for Brookby was as fellows': President, Mrs. Hamblin; vice-presidents, Mcsdames Halliwell and Moody; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. 11. Fauleonbridge; committee, Mesdames A. Davies, Pallistcr and Sterling. An animal embroidery competition was enjoyed. At Clevedon, the president, Mrs. Noel Adams, welcomed visitors from the new branch recently formed at Ardmore. Mrs. Luke reported on arrangements made in connection with the display at the Auckland Winter Show. Mrs. Campbell reported on the work of the sewing circle, and stated that several substantial parcels had been distributed. The "talent" competition held recently resulted in the sum of £4 1/2 being added to branch funds, and arrangements were complete'd for a "points" competition for the year. Miss Neave, of Christchurch, gave a talk on her travels in the isle of Java.

In the absence of the president at Drury, the meeting was presided over by Mrs. Feilding, vice-president. Mr. Jarrett, Government poultry expert, gave a talk on poultry. The competition for the month was an article knitted with not more than two skeins of wool, and was won by Mrs. Mason with a pair of child's gloves.

At Pukekohe East remits for the conference were discussed, and arrangements made to calebrato the branch s first birthday. The competition was a plate of fancy biscuits, the prize being allotted by popular vote, and the rollcall a. Limerick by each member on her own name. Exhibits were received for the display at the Auckland Winter Show, and contributions for a parcel to be sent to Sister Esther were also received. Brisk business was done at the exchange table.

At Waiau Pa, Mrs. Brown gave a report on the recent meeting of the executive of the Waitemata provincial council. Mrs. Litchfield demonstrated the preparation of sheep skins for use, and showed some excellent examples of wool rugs, mops, slippers and woolly toys. The preparation and use of the simple home dyes which had beeu used was also explained. The roll-call was "Uses of a lemon." Some excellent scarves were seen in the knitted scarf competition, and the potato peeling competition caused much amusement.
