ACCIDENT FEARED
BRIDEGROOM MISSING.
SINCE NIGHT BEFORE WEDDING. SEARCH PARTY OTTT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE PUKE, this day. Considerable anxiety is felt concerning Mr. Jack Bennett, a well-known footballer, who was to have been married last Wednesday to a member of a highly respected family of Paengaroa. The wedding was arranged .for 11.30 a.m. at St. John's Church, To Puke, and it was to be followed by the customary wedding breakfast in the Paengaroa Hall.
The bridegroom failed to appear at the church, and after a long wait the wedding party and the guests dispersed. Since then nothing lias been heard of Mr. Bennett. He has been employed by a Mr. Cruickshank for six years, and his employer holds a high opinion of him. All his belongings are still at the farm and ho has not withdrawn money from his banking account. Mr. Bennett was in To Puke on Tuesday night, and it is thought ho m.aj have met with an accident when returning" home. A party, under Constable Jackson, is searching the country between Te Puke and Paengaroa.' The greatest sympathy is being expressed with those most directly" concerned in the occurrence.
