DAIRY INDUSTRY.
LEVIN DAIRY COMPANY. The Levin Dairy Company in the southern Manawatu also showed an increased output for tlv; season, 135 more tons of butter being nude in 1933 than in 1932. The figures wr e IG7I tons 2c wt Iqr 111b and 1535 tons 12cwt lqr 171b respectively for the two '.ears. The pastures in this company's arci arc in good condition, and if frosts do ft bccome unduly severe a good winter v-jld of butterfat is anticipated. MARKETING ASSOCIATION. Mr. E. Harding presided over the thirteenth annual meeting of the New Zealand Producers' Co-op. Marketing Association held in Hamilton on Thursday evening. In presenting the directors' report Air. Harding said a record quantity of dairy produce was handled during the 1931-32 season, now under review. A total of 160/J4S boxes of butter and 110,535 crates | of cheese was dealt with, an increase of 48,017 boxes of butter and 30.252 crates of i cheese over the total for the previous season. Unfortunately the ruling market prices during the season were very disappointing, and although a greatly increased quantity of produce was handled the turnover amounted to only £908,404, an increase of £171,117 on the previous year. However, quite good results had been achieved, and in view of the present difficult position in which dairy company suppliers were placed it had been decided to make a cash rebate to consigning factories on the basis of 2/4 in the pound of commission paid by shareholders, and 1/2 in the pound to non-shareholders. The retiring directors, Messrs. H. D. Forsyth (Taranaki), T. Moss (Wellington), W. Bryant (Otago), and J. Smith (Southland), were declared re-elected, and Mr. Harding was reappointed chaii-man.
