AMUSEMENTS

"JUST MY LUCK."

The uncontrolled carcer of a light van down Queen Street on Saturday afternoon, through the failing of the braKing system, with its consequent crash into tlic corner ol a hotel, resulting in the almost complete wracking of tne'vau, had an interesting sidelight from the point of view of the effect of chance publicity ' stunts. In the window <if the hotel which was the scene of the accident, was a placard proclaiming in silver letters that "'Jnst My Luck," with Kalph Lynn, would be the next attraction at the Plaza Theatre. Ono of the theatre's staff who arrived on tho spot shortly after the crash, was noticed to take the sign from the window when the van was shifted by a repair wagon and to place it on the wrecked truck. This novel "stunt .was quite applicable from the point of view of aptness. "THE LADS IN NAVY BLUE." Through the courtesy of Commodore I\. Burges Watson, D.5.0., K.N., the crew of ILM.s. Dunedin will present a vaudeville entertainment at the Town Ilall Concert Chamber to-morrow evening in aid of the Mayor's fund for relief of unemployment. The "Lads in Navy Blue" have been most successful with this bright and colourful entertainment elsewhere in the Dominion. The programme is spiced with variety, embracing musical novelties, comedy, character sketches, violin solos, ctc. Mental telepathy is to be included in the programme. Edmund Kurtz, 'cellist, an ex-pupil of Pablo Casals, has been described by a Southern critic as "the greatest virtuoso on this instrument heard in New Zealand 6ince the visit of the great Jean Gerady."
