NATIVE RATES.
COMMISSION ON TOUR.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, this day. The Native Land Rates Commission arrived in Dargaville yesterday from Rawene, via the Waipoua I 1 or est. After their arrival they motored to Tangowahine, where the chairman, the Hon. A. D. McLeod, inspected the iangowahino settlement. He was Minister ot Lands when the estate was purchased, and he was interested to observe the progress made by the settlers. This morning the commission met the county chairman, Mr. V. Trounson, and the county clerk, who gave information respecting native lands in County, where the position regarding native rates is less serious than in other counties. . . . At 11 a.m. the commission left lor Ruawai and Matakohe, where it was to bo met by the chairman of the Otamatea County, Mr. Rodney _ Coates. Later it was to meet the chairman of Rodney County at Warkworth, and to reach Auckland in the evening.
