WRESTLING.
NOISY CROWD AT ASHBURTON
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) -ASHBURTON, this day. A thousand people noisily protested against the exhibition of _ "Whiskers" Blake and Jack Patterson in an eightround professional wrestling bout on Saturday night. The bout wad willing in places, and the contestants displayed anger at times. Referee A. Craig declared the bout a draw, cach man having one fall. Blake was-the more scientific, and 6lanuned his opponent violently several time's. Patterson was much the powerful, and thus got. himself out of" trouble.'- At'the end.of the bout he was hissed and hooted by a section of the crowd which resented the poor display, and supported Blake, who held thafc:only seven rounds had been staged. Patterson returned l'rom the dressing room and offered to wrestle a deciding round, but was dissuaded. Chaos ruled, patrons leaving the theatre and returning in a body twicc. '
