SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The report of the executive of the Auckland Primary School Committees' Association to be presented to the annual meeting on June 21 states that 11 new committees were affiliated during the year, making 38 city and suburban committees and 94 country committees in the association. Attention is drawn to the fact that tho extension of the contract for school text books with the present contractors instead of calling for tenders had been strenuously opposed. The association had also protested against the exclusion ot five-year-old children. The Education Board had been informed that, in the opinion of the association, permission should bo granted to school committees to establish, where convenient, kindergarten classes, approved teachers to be employed without obligation to the board with respect to salary. The board had replied that favourable consideration would be given to applications from committees provided accommodation was available. | Tho balance-sheet to be presented will ' show a credit balance of £13,
