SOCIETY AT NORTHCOTE.
Speaking at the morning scrvice at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church at North cote yesterday, Bishop M. Liston com mended the good work undertaken in the parish, which had shown great progress lie warmly congratulated the people on their energy and enterprise, and expressed satisfaction at the success of the lien convent school opened last February The objects of the St. Vincent de Pau Society, formed at Auckland many yean ago, were also explained. In the afternoon, a conference of tin St. Vincent de Paul Society was held, anc it was agreed to extend its activities tc Northeote. Mr. I*. J. McGovern was elected president, Mr. D. F. Lunny vice president, Mr. E. Coyle secretary, and Mill. Bowker treasurer. Mrs. J. lloran wai elected president of the ladies' branch Mrs. A. J. Grant vice-president, Mrs. M O'Reill.v secretary, and Mrs. C. Sampsoi treasurer. Several members were enrolled
