Attired in plus fours, a golf enthusiast on Saturday afternoon dashed into the freezing sea water near Cave Lock, Sumner, and rescued a four-year-old gill who was being carried away by a rush of the current into the channel. The child was scrambling on the rocks when she was swept off by a heavy breaker. The cries, of other children attracted the attention of the rescuer.
