AMUSEMENTS.

STRAND THEATRE. Two pieces of the production work ot Mr. Kudall Hayward, ot' Auckland, are to be seen on to-night's new programme of the Strand Theatre. The first is tho comparatively recent picture of the King s Birthday parade in the Domain, with its attendant clamour and attraction. This was presented to the public just two day« after it was taken. The other is the year-old film record of the "hub of the Empire," entitled "Mighty London." It opens with a Londoner showing his Colonial nephew the various sights and historic places that go to make up the wonderful tradition . embodied in the metropolis. The main film fare at the Strand is "Where Is This Lady?" a romance of modern Vienna, with Owen Nares in the chief role. He is seen as a young Berlin Banker, who, realisiug that his house is bankrupt, agrees to marry the lovely daughter of another supposedly wealthy family, which happens to be in similar straits. The marriage is regarded by both sides with apparent satisfaction, until the discovery of mutual bankruptcy is made, it then being discovered that the bride has eloped with a second flute in an orchestra, while the groom has run o(T with the beautiful daughter of a char-a-banc, owner. The two couples take the first opportunity o£ leaving for Berlin, where they undertake a novel method of making the unsuccessful Muller Bank pay. While in Vienna many pleasing interludes occur, notably when Owen Nares meets his future bride through a visit to the opera, on what he imagines to be his last night of freedom. Marta Eggert plays this role well, her fine voice being given excellent opportunities. Wendy Barrie and George K.Arthur play the other two romantic roles.
