CHAIRMAN RESIGNS.
TUAKAU TOWN BOARD,
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TUAKAU, this day. The resignation of the chairman of the Tuakau Town Board, Mr. A. H. Tapper, was received this morning. Owing to Mr. Tapper being absent from the district, 110 explanation is available. It is understood that the resignation is an outcome of the board's decision this week to grant an increase in salary to an officer. Mr. Tapper was clerk to the board for 18 years, resigning last year. In September he was elected to the board, and he was chosen as chairman by four votes to three.
