Mr. A. H. Johnstone, of Auckland, will leave this evening for Hamilton, and will afterwards go to Dunedin.
Mr. AVilliam David Armit has been appointed Commissioner of Crown Lands for the North Auckland Land District, according to the Gazette. Sir Walter Stringer was a passenger for Wellington last evening. I>ater he is going to Ghristchurch and Dunedin. and expects to be away some six weeks. A vote of condolence was passed tn the relatives of the late Mr. Francis Hull at the morning cal; or the Auckland Stock Exchange to-day, members standing in silence. Sir George Fowldts left for the South last evening to be present at the Palmerstou North Show, and also to attend a meeting of the Massey College council. He expects to be back about Friday.
Messrs. W. M. Milliken, R. S. Staccv, R. G. Bush, L. F. Drake and T. H. C. Caugliey, members of the Auckland University College, who represented the New Zealand University in the final Rugby Test against the visiting Australian Universities' team at Christchurch on Saturday, returned to Auckland this morning.
