WEEK-END MISHAPS.
FOOTBALLERS INJURED. | Two women were knocked down by a [small car as they were crossing the foot of Queen Street'in the heavy rain early last evening after having stepped off a I tram. They were Mrs. M. A. Broadbent, aged 83, of 33, Norwood Road, Bayswater, and her daughter. Mrs. Broadbent suffered slight injuries to her head, and was treated in the casualty ward at the hospital, where she was taken by the St. John Ambulance.
Two footballers were injured on Saturday and admitted to the hospital. The condition of both to-day is reported to be satisfactory. .H. A. Drew, playing for the City senior League team at Carlaw Park, received concussion. He is aged 27, is married, and lives at IS, Summer Street, Ponsonby. Similar injuries were received by Thomas Pearsc, iwho was playing third grade League at Mangere Domain. He is aged 17, and lives in Queen Mary Avenue, New Lynn. The St. John Ambulance took both to the hospitr.l.
