BOXING.

TO-NIGHT'S FINE PROGRAMME. To-night's the night for the great boxing programme at the Town Hal), when Wellington's best will meet Auckland's best in six contests for interproviiicial honours. These contests will be mipported by a .special heavy-weight match between I'ayntcr, former New Zealand champion, and Lindesay, the naval champion, while an additional attraction is the professional welter-weight contest between Steve Hughes and Clarrie Craig. The Wellington team lias arrived in excellent condition, and all report fit and well. The Auckland team concluded training operations on Saturday, and all are ready for the fray. Hughes arrived during the week-end and is fit, and confident that lie will take the long end of the purse. Craig is in splendid fettle, and lie also is confident that he will win. There will be winners and losers, and in the finding of them Aickland boxing enthusiasts will find entertainment in abundance. The amateurs are all possessed of excellent records, and every one of them lias made his mark in New Zealand boxing circles. Champions, ex-cham-pions, and runncrs-up are all included in the teams, and there will be boxing to suit every taste and fancy. The professional contest .promises excellent entertainment. Both men have first class records, and can bo relied upon for a fine exhibition. Each is making his first appearance here in the professional ring, and each will be auxious to prove himself for future contests. A splendid night of clever boxing and hard lighting is assured.

NICOL DEFEATS CAMPBELL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ■ TIMARU, Sunday. Ray Nieol, of Ohai, heavy-weight champion of New Zealand, secured a points decision over Alan Campbell, of Timaru, in a fifteen-round contest last night.. The fight was an interesting one throughout, with Nicol just shading his opponent in a majority of the rounds. He was superior at in-fighting, and his defensive work was outstanding.
