WIN AT BRISBANE.
NEW ZEALAND TOURING TEAM. i 'DEFEAT OF QUEENSLAND, BRISBANE, June 4. The New Zealand Association football team scored its first important victory of the Australian tour yesterday when it defeated Queensland at _ tlie Brisbane Exhibition Oval by five goals to one. The teams were:— • New Zealand: Zuill, Stone, Gerrard, Stenhouse, Chapman, (Jrabb, Blackie, Baker, Kershaw, Groves and Kay. Queensland: Williams, Nunn, Shanks, Murray, Love, Gibb, Casey, .Campbell, Ivitching, Gorring and Donaldson. It was a .pleasure to watch the New Zealand forwards sweep in a line up the field, 'by means of neat triangular passing. The visitors showed fine form, and should now extend Australia in the first Test match to-morrow. Drizzling rain slowed the ground, which is usually very fast. Queensland opened vigorously and Kitching scored the first goal. The New Zealanders then took charge and goals were obtained by Kershaw and lvay before half-time. Tlie visitors' finishing was still erratic. The second halt' provided thrilling play. Zuill, aided by the backs, kept Queensland at bay. The forwards were constantly attacking, and Kershaw and Kay again scored. The fifth goal came from a rebound off a Queensland half. Zuill, Kay and Kershaw were outstanding among the New Zealanders. Chapman, as half, played a clever game. The New Zealanders will play the first Test match against Australia at Brisbane to-day. The touring team has played live matches to date, winning two and losing three, with 11 goals for and 21 against.
