PEACE.
Peacc bo with tliis valley: And quiet, like the shadow of a cloud, Rest on its sheltered ways. I have found beauty here— Under the hedges, in stony creeks, In fields that had no voice To thank the sun and rain for life And yet whose very selves were praise to God. I have dwelt here and known Every hill and winding track ; Each head of clover that bends to the bees. An earth dweller, whose shadow Stretched no further than the smallest trees; Seeing small things one by one. But from this hillside I see you, valley, complete; Like a hand upturned to Heaven Holding every small tiling iu your great palm. May peace be with you, and rest, And quietness come to stay. Eternity shall know a valley such as this. —K. M. KNIGHT. Auckland.
