Sutton, of Whangarei, and Miss Vivian Sail, of Taupo, are at the Station Hotel. * * * Miss Edna Steel, well-known in Auckland swimming circles, has been transferred from Northcote to the teaching staff of the Waipu School, and commences her new duties on Monday. Miss Rose Irwin, of Renniera, is returning to Auckland by the Wanganelia 011 Tuesday. She has been abroad for a year and a half. She has travelled extensively on the Continent, as well as in Great Britain.

Mrs. E. Stewart McMillin, wife of the American Consul for Mexico, who was previously Consul at Warsaw, Belgrade and La Paz, Central South America, arrived in Auckland on Tuesday by the Remuera. Hill, Forbes Street, Onehunia. » * * » Miss Alison Holmes has been appointed director of the public kindergarten at Birkenhead, in the place of Miss Irene M. Wood, who lias joined the teaching staff of the Birkenhead School. The kindergarten has been very successful, with a daily average attendance of 35 pupils. It is located in a portion of the primary school building, the classroom being provided with fireplace and similar winter comforts.
