Although the magistrate said accused did not ueserve much consideration, the fact that Thomas Percy Timmius, aged 41 years, painter and decorator, had acquired a new wife and six stepchildren while out on bail prompted Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., to be lenient with Timmins when he appeared on two charges of obtaining goods and money by means of valueless cheques. • Chief Detective Dunlop said accused had served several periods of imprisonment, but liis wife seemed conlideut that she could reform him. The magistrate said it was late in the day for accused to make up his mind to turn'over a new leaf, after 28 convictions, mostly of false pieteiices and theft. "I can't allow it to go out that it a man on remand gets married it makes much difference to the Court," said the magistrate.
