N.S.W. REFERENDUM. Validity of Upper House Bill Challenged. LABOUR SUIT BROUGHT. (United l'.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) , (Received 11.30 a.m.) e SYDNEY, this day. The action to challenge the validity of the Upper House Reform Bill commences to-day before the Chief Judge in Equity, Mr. Justice Harvey. The plaintiffs are Mr. A. B. Piddmgton, K.C., Mr. Concannon, M.L.C., Mr. A. C. Willis, M.L.C., and two others, whose names have not yet been disclosed. The Premier, Mr. B. S. Stevens, president of the Legislative Council, Mr. Peden, Electoral Commissioner,,. Judge Edwards and the whole Cabinet will be joined as respondents. The affirmative majority for the reform of the Legislative Council in the recent referendum now totals 38,808. An injunction is to be sought to restrain the Cabinet from laying the bill before the Governor for the Royal assent on the grounds that the referendum was not conducted according to law, and that the bill was not submitted to the electors before the poll.
