Imperial Airways 'Plane for Australia. KARACHI-SINGAPORE SURVEY. (Received 10 a.m.) CANBERRA, this day. Mr. J. A. Lyons, Prime Minister, has received a cable from Mr. S. M. Bruce, Minister in London, announcing that Imperial Airways had decided to send an Atlanta 'plane from Karachi to Singapore to make a final survey of this stage of the air mail route before it was opened in July. The 'plane will continue to Dafwin, reaching Sydney on May 31. FINE NEW 'PLANE. THE PRINCE GOES FLYING. (British Official "Wireless.) RUGBY, May 17. The Prince of Wales flew from Windsor to Cardiff to hold an investiture of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, this being the first occasion on which he has made a long flight in his new Vickere Viastra machine. This monoplane has accommodation for 10 persons. Its speed is 160 miles an hour. Sound-proof walls make conversation possible at a normal tone. Ten parachutes in the roof of the cabin are released for the passengers on touching a button. The Prince flew .back to London in the evening to keep a second public engagement.
